Black Oystercatcher Wines
A family-owned vineyard on the banks of the Verlorenvlei, producing Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Enjoy wine tastings paired with chocolate, jams, cheese, or antipasto platters. Craft beer enthusiasts can try Fraser’s Folly brews, including Hoppy Lager and Moer Koffie Stout. Set amidst fynbos and wetlands, the farm shop offers chocolates, beauty products, crockery, and leather goods.
Zoetendal Vineyards
Nestled in Elim along the Nuwejaars River, this boutique winery specializes in premium wines from the Agulhas Plain, including Sauvignon Blanc and a rich, spicy Shiraz. Visitors can also enjoy hiking, biking, birdwatching, and picnics on the riverbank.
The Berrio Wines
Perched on a hill overlooking Elim, The Berrio produces fresh, vibrant wines with a distinctive minerality. Notable offerings include Pinot Noir, Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. Please note that tastings are currently closed, but the vineyard remains a striking landmark in the region.
Strandveld Vineyards
Located near Elim and Cape Agulhas, this historic vineyard produces wines with rich, generous flavours from grapes nurtured by coastal soils and Atlantic winds. The First Sighting range—including Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Pinot Noir, and Shiraz—celebrates the explorers who first sighted Africa’s southern tip. Enjoy tastings in the rustic indoor stable or on the sunny veranda overlooking gardens and vineyards.
The Giant Periwinkle
Situated on Perdekop near Baardskeedersbos, this scenic farm is known for elegant, complex wines, particularly Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah. Their flagship Blanc Fumé offers a lightly wooded, cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc. Wine tastings can be arranged by appointment.
Lomond Wine Estate
Overlooking the Lomond Dam and surrounding valley, this estate pairs tastings with antipasto platters, local cheese, cold meats, and trout pâté. Options include standard tastings, sweet pairings, or trout and wine pairings. The farm features cycling trails through fynbos, mountains, and forested valleys, as well as their unique Rockpool wine range. Open daily from 10:00 to 16:00.
